If we are interested in sampling a Gaussian peak, it is said that the critical sampling frequency should at least be 2x maximum frequency present in a signal. If we look at the attached analysis where a Gaussian function is transformed by Fourier analysis, the authors mention that the highest frequency component in the Gaussian function is approximately (0+ 3/s), where s is the standard deviation of the original peak.

Does anyone know the origin of 3/s as the maximum frequency component in a Gaussian peak? Thanks
