In a crystalline host, the Ce3+ PL quantum yield reaches close to 100% (Ce-YAG). In glassy host, I found that the maximum quantum yield is reported to be approximately 45% (R. Reisfeld, J. Solid state chem. 1975). Is there any report on higher quantum yield of Ce3+ PL in glass? and if not, what is the reason for a not so good quantum yield in glassy host?
The entanglement is a very complicated way to understand the interaction of light with matter.
Using Planck's zero point field and Einstein's (1917) theory of light matter interactions, classical theory shows that all molecules are excited by an incoming field, but that the result for almost all is a zero exchange of energy. In particular, the field radiated by the electron of an atom of hydrogen on a stationary orbit interferes with the zero point field, so that the exchange of energy is generally zero.
Really, the elementary computation which gives this result using the mean value of the zero point field in the mode of emission of the electron is not perfectly exact: Taking into account the stochastic variations of the zero point fields, one obtains the Willis E. Lamb's correction of the energy levels of atomic hydrogen.
