Slurry consists of abrasive particles suspended in a liquid, while air-sand, such as ASTM G76, involves abrasive carried by air. When subjected to erosion at a 90-degree angle, dry sand erosion typically creates a U shape profile whereas slurry erosion is more likely to result in a W shape profile.

Are there any other differences between these two types of erosion? If both tests are conducted under the same parameters (including the same angle, jet velocity, flow rate, nozzle diameter, and stand-off distance), will the materials ranking for erosion resistance generated by the two methods be the same?

Thank you!
