Are there different mechanism to color tin? Is it just the film thickness of SnO/SnO2 or is there also a "doping" way that chemically colors tin?

Typically at soldering materials, there exists a test, where the tin coating gets tested at 150/250 deg Celsius. Are there any papers that explain/research the occasion of colors at Sn/SnO?
