I am injecting mice IP with the drug vinpocetine. Combing through the literature--it appears that most researchers use a vehicle of saline acidified with HCl to a pH between 4 and 5.5. These seem rather low for IP treatment. The other option I have seen is to use a low dose (~40ul) of 100% DMSO. Any suggestions of what to do or other things to look up? Thanks!

I am looking into some possibilities with acetic acid and cyclo-dextrin inclusion complexes--let's hope this is not too bad of a rabbit hole!
In this paper, they used acidified saline to deliver anti-pain candidates and saw benefit, implying but not proving that acidified saline vehicle is not so bad. I think there is buffering capacity in the peritoneal fluid so I favor going with it as a vehicle, since DMSO has its own baggage...

"All peptides showed purity above 95%. The peptides/chemicals were diluted in acidified saline (0.9% saline with 0.01 M acetic acid), except for compound 4 that was diluted in 100 μl DMSO and then further diluted with acidified saline to the final concentration (0.04% DMSO). Peptides were injected i.p. in a dose of 185 nmol/kg."
