we are trying to measure the stiffness of biomaterial using compressive testing method. The biomaterial has sticky nature. when we change the concentration of biomaterial from low to high, at certain low concentration the stickiness increases and bind to the cantilever due to which we get erratic readings. The young modulus become so high suddenly. What could be the reason?
if anyone can give us the clarity, it will be appreciable.

I agree to that point. But my question is what is the limitation of viscoelastic material for its youngs modulus calculation. is there any window beyond which calculation does not apply? or sticky nature determines. if the sample is sticky, cant we measure the youngs modulus?

I imagine that you are calculating the Young’s modulus from the resonance frequency of a cantilever beam and the loss factor from the damping ratio. However, in the case of biomaterials, there are materials with a large loss factor (loss tangent) such that the glass transition point is at room temperature (about 1 or more). I think that our method can be applied to the evaluation of the complex wave number (wave number and attenuation constant) for such a material. (It is not a well-known method.)
