There are several theories that describe the probable consequences of the exploitation of unconventional hydrocarbons. This research seeks to have real information to improve the regulation of this sector.
By unconventional hydrocarbons, do you mean the variety of liquid sources including oil sands, extra heavy oil, gas to liquids and other liquids that are obtained through techniques other than traditional vertical well extraction. Sources of this type of unconventional oil include oil sands, oil shale, shale oil, tight oil, and heavy and extra-heavy oil and the processes involved to get the oil could lead to pollution. See the linksArticle Air quality concerns of unconventional oil and natural gas production
there is no doubt that unconventional hydrocarbon deposits and low-grade large tonnage mineral deposits need special technologies to recover and process these raw materials and render them available to an ever inceasing demand.
The alternative is to reduce the population which is growing across the continents excluding Europe.

Thanks for the answers. I refer to hydraulic fracturing that involves the excessive use of water resources. This situation for me of uncertainty has encouraged me to conduct research on the subject. I seek technical and scientific opinions on cases of exploitation versus pollution (grades). If there are methods of calculations or models to define the profitability of a production shared with the cost of impact that this type of operation can generate.
