There are negative feedback arrangements (control systems), where the loop gain phase crosses the -180deg line twice (in different directions, of course) - and the magnitude of the loop gain magnitude is still greater than 0 dB. At the point, where the magnitude is "1" the phase is again below the critical value of -180deg.

According to the Nyquist theorem, closing the loop will lead to a stable system.

Question: Is there any intuitive explanation as to why those frequency points where the gain is higher than 0 dB and phase -180 degree doesn't keep on adding to itself and lead to instability?
