I am analysing the structure of the ZnO material using the Raman spectroscopy. So i wanted to know the intensity of the material the effect of glass slides on the same since the thin film is deposited on the glass slides
The most important results in Raman are the frequency shifts of the peaks and respective width. In general intensity is of less importance.
The Raman intensity depends of several factors related with the material and the Raman setup used. The analysis of the same sample with different Raman setups can results in a difference as high as 3 others of magnitude in my experience.
Intensity vs Material:
The intensity of the Raman peaks is related with the quality of the material, higher the crystalline quality of the material higher the intensity and narrow the peak. Crystalline ZnO will have higher intensity that polycristaline ZnO and higher than amorphous ZnO.
Intensity Vs Raman Setup:
The Raman setup has a huge influence on the Raman intensity signal. The influence is caused by: setup configuration (Raman, micro-Raman, backscattering,...), optical design, excitation (wavelength, intensity), ...
Having a excitation wavelength close to a absolving band of the ZnO can increase substantially the intensity.
