So as an example I motivate my choice of this paper on the valuation of ecosystems, with the full reference given below:
The paper by Costanza et al, 2014, "Changes in the global value of ecosystems" is integral to the study of the value of ecosystem services, as it does seek to find a way to quantify these services, which is necessary given that the pollution and destruction of ecosystems in our world is evidence of market failure. Simultaneously, the study also acknowledges that valuing ecosystem services does not equate to commodification of privatisation. Valuation of ecosystems is seen as recognition of the relationship between humans and nature, with an emphasis on the role of these services as part of sustainability and well-being. It is through the way that we view nature that we will ensure a future for ourselves and nature around us.
