One can find the nonlinear refractive indices of non-metal nanoparticles through the maxwell-Garnett formula; however, no one has used this formula to calculate nonlinear refractive indices of metal nanopartcles. Why? and what formula is used instead?

My books are in storage otherwise I'd check this for you. Have you tried Mie theory? The book "Absorption and Scattering of Light by Small Particles" by Boren and Huffman is the text I am thinking of.

You can compute the refractive index of metallic nanoparticles under the same mixing models with the same formulas, only that there is now a real and imaginary part. Here's a paper that does it:
