I made ethanol extract of a plant material and now I want to dissolve it in a suitable solvent to study its anticancer effect and also to detect and determine its active ingredients.
After the solvent was evaporated you can use 10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) to reconstitude the extract and make serial dilutions in a suitable cell culture medium. See the method of Morsmann, T 1983 J Immunol methods 65 p263-271
From mine opinion you must check the soulbility of your extract in water and 10 % DMSO. You may enahnce the solubility of your extract by sonicating the solution.
Usually ethanol extract are not soluble in water. The extract has to be dissolved in 10% DMSO. This enhances the solubility of the extract. You can now prepare serial dilutions of the extract before application.
