what is the exact role of NH4Cl (ammonium chloride) in aqueous barbier type reactions?
It is stronger proton-donor than water. see doi:10.3390/61200964
But is it possible to carry out a aqueous barbier type reactions in presence of any other stronger proton donor instead of NH4Cl (ammonium chloride).?
Ammonium chloride is the right acid as a buffer - not too strong, not too weak.
