If an implant of 0.5 cm is retrieved from animal subcutaneous space with single incision along with skin and gluing wound edges without any digital maneuver. Will it be called as dissection or explantation?
Very challenging question, extremely difficult! coming from an individual with skills in all kinds of surgery, be it transplantation surgery, microsurgery, plastic surgery etc etc.I cannot answer this good question (but you got others to answer). I wonder though how did you reach this far without knowing what dissection means... or just to get RG points for questions. You are ridiculous!
I have this question for discussion (ethical application/protocol) on table for many days because that word will change the cost involved in project by 10000USD. So this is a question of 10K USD. Thanks to all for feedback.
This implant was implanted before some time, and now you want to remove it. Explantation or extraction fits this kind of procedure. Dissection is not suitable because it does not elucidate the fact of implant removal. On the other hand, you may apply it as a first step of this procedure to free the implant from surrounding tissues, expose it and then as a second step - extract (explant) it.
Just to depict my procedure related to question, an illustrative diagram is attached herewith.
Thanks again. Your answers mentioned above clarified doubts, which i will use for reference in a reviewer committee (animal ethics) soon (in addition to some other publications).
