I am going to do a project on underwater Image Processing.My aim is to find Object Identification in Underwater Image. Lot of researches are undergone in underwater Image analysis like species life monitoring,underwater oil/gas pipeline monitoring,underwater building monitoring like Dam structures , water quality,man made objects under sea like crashed flight/ship objects also finding underwater environmental conditional monitoring like earthquake under sea, pollution in sea etc .In that I am having little bit confusion about choosing my target. What is the big scope in underwater Image analysis ?what is the useful and very effective target?Please give me a suggestion.
I suggest you to first decide your methodology. Whether you are going to carry out ground measurement or using available dataset for analysis? It will help you in finalising your target.
The underwater image processing area has received considerable attention within the last decades, showing important achievements. There are several existing methods for underwater image processing. In general, these methods can be categorized into two approaches: hardware-based methods and software-based methods.
There are four hardware approaches to underwater imaging: polarization, range-gated imaging, fluorescence imaging and stereo imagining. For software based underwater image processing, wavelength compensation approach, e.g. physical model, nonphysical model and color reconstruction approach is available.
