What is the effect of the particle size of raw material in the preparation of ceramic material via Solid state reaction method? If we are using powder of raw material in the nanometric range, Can it will result in the single phase formation or leads to segregation at the boundary?
Yes the particle size is important, but if you want a one-phase product it may be as important to have homogeneous mixing of the starting materials. Temperature, time, pressure etc. - all play a role.

If the particle size of raw materials are same and low, you may get well crystalize and dense sample. The preparation process, firing temperature, heating/cooling rate, holding time, pressure, etc. has a role.
