Ng and Pang (2000) stated that increasing the surcharge causes increasing the air entry value in SWCC, but I think it is reverse because increasing the surcharge will decrease big pores of a soil. What is your point of view?
What is surcharge? you mean compaction? If so, then compaction reduces macroporosity and increases air entry pressure which is related to the (1/a) and not (a) parameter of van genuchten model. The smaller the value of (a) the higher the air entry pressure in the soil. Check these papers
