Transformational leadership has become a topic of increasing interest in the field of educational research, with numerous studies exploring its potential impact on various aspects of school performance. One particularly compelling area of inquiry is the relationship between the transformational leadership practices of school leaders and the performance of their teachers (Gunawan, 2020). Transformational leadership, in the context of schools, is characterized by a set of behaviors that aim to inspire and motivate teachers to go beyond their own self-interests for the good of the organization. These behaviors include providing a clear vision and direction, intellectually stimulating teachers, and offering individualized support and consideration (Leithwood & Jantzi, 2005).
Several studies have found that transformational leadership can significantly influence teacher performance. Transformational leaders can create a school culture that fosters teacher motivation, professional learning, and improved organizational conditions, all of which can ultimately lead to enhanced teaching practices (Thoonen et al., 2011). Furthermore, research has shown that transformational leadership can indirectly influence organizational performance through its impact on factors such as organizational culture, communication, and interpersonal relationships (Chau et al., 2021). While the existing literature provides a strong foundation for understanding the potential benefits of transformational leadership in schools, more research is needed to fully elucidate the mechanisms by which these leadership practices influence teacher performance. Longitudinal studies that examine the dynamic nature of school improvement and the evolving effects of transformational leadership over time would be particularly valuable in this regard (Thoonen et al., 2011).
In conclusion, the available evidence suggests that transformational leadership can be a powerful tool for school leaders seeking to enhance the performance of their teaching staff. By inspiring and motivating teachers, transformational leaders can create an environment that fosters professional growth, creativity, and a commitment to achieving organizational goals (Teoh et al., 2022) (Griffith, 2004). As the field of educational leadership continues to evolve, the role of transformational leadership in shaping teacher performance is likely to remain a critical area of study.

In my opinion, transformational leadership can also be psuedo-transformational leadership so one needs to understand the framework. I think a framework of transformational leadership and transaction leadership which includes ethical leadership style will possibly suit leaders but it would also depend on the school context. Kindly read some of my publication this topic for a better insight.
Transformational leaders brings the best from their teachers. They inspired their teachers to perform the best/ excellent craft that they could, which also gives inspiration to students. With leaders like them, bringing the best in us makes the best school /a school that gives quality education and produces excellent student outcomes.
The transformational leadership of students would be an incentive to improve the teacher's performance, as long as he or she has the spirit of taking on challenges.
Transformational leadership by school leaders has been shown to have a significant positive effect on teacher performance. Here's how:
Inspiration and Motivation: Transformational leaders inspire and motivate teachers by setting a vision and creating a sense of purpose. This can lead to increased enthusiasm and commitment from teachers, resulting in improved performance and engagement in their work.
Support and Development: These leaders often provide support and opportunities for professional development. By encouraging teachers to pursue growth and improvement, they can enhance teachers' skills and effectiveness in the classroom.
Building a Positive School Culture: Transformational leaders foster a positive school culture that values collaboration and respect. This environment can improve teachers' job satisfaction and morale, leading to better performance.
Empowerment and Autonomy: They empower teachers by giving them more autonomy and involving them in decision-making processes. This empowerment can increase teachers' sense of ownership and responsibility, enhancing their performance.
High Expectations and Accountability: Transformational leaders set high expectations and hold teachers accountable for their performance. This can lead to higher standards and improved teaching practices.
Emotional Support: They often provide emotional support and recognize teachers' efforts, which can help reduce stress and burnout, contributing to better performance.
Overall, transformational leadership can create a supportive and motivating environment that enhances teachers' effectiveness and performance
All the above answers are good. I discuss here with Integral approach of Transformational Leadership enunciated by Sri Aurobindo. Here, it signifies the change of consciouness. The role of teacher is to connect the learners with source of knowledge(God). A conscious teacher can do it and influence others. It is a radical change rather than temporary. Here both teachers and students are seekers.
