Tista River is dominated by the illite (and/or mica), chlorite, kaolinite, quartz and feldspar. The accessory minerals include lavendulan, glauconite lepidolite, enstatite, sekaninaite and ferrierite. Lavendulan is a copper arsenate mineral that might have contributed arsenic in the sediments of the study area.
