I want to calculate COD in mg/L. I am diluting the domestic/municipal wastewater (as feed for biological treatment) with distilled water in 1:1 ratio as. In that I am taking 2.5 ml for COD which i am doing in open refliux method.
The calculation part is
COD= ((Blank - Sample) x 800)/ 2.5 (2.5-ml of sample taken)
If i am taking 2.5 ml in 20 ml sample then what is the dilution ratio/factor to multiply to get my actual COD value?

While making dilutions for COD you need to have actual idea of the volume you want to take
for eg. if you need 1000 mL of the diluted sample with 100X dilution then: 1000mL/100X=10 mL sample and rest water.
Now in your case you have done dilution in the ratio of 1:1; so what is the actual volume that you have taken into consideration. If you know the volume then you can calculate the dilution factor for the same.
In the formula which you have mentioned, the overall formula should also be multiplied by the dilution factor and Normality of FAS should also be included in the formula.

If you take 2.5 mL of your sample and after dilution the volume is 20mL, so tha factor is 8.
