Apart from the experimental part (where an additional problem of radiolysis (ion generation) in presence of electron beam is there) what other problems (like multiple scattering) might one face in terms of data analysis process for solution phase electron scattering experiments and how to take care of that?
Very broad question:
1. standard electron diffraction procedures typically give much less accurate lattice parameters than x-ray diffraction
2. electron diffraction only covers a very small sample volume as compared to in particular X-ray powder diffraction. Hence, there is frequently the question
3. in many cases electron diffraction is able to yield single-crystal like pattern while X-ray diffraction is not. This makes it often possible to see features, e.g. superstructure reflections, which are not detected in X-ray diffraction. On the other hand, Powder-Xray diffraction with its superior resolution on the 2theta scale methods may allow to see effects like reflection splitting (indicative for symmetry reduction) or line broadening. Hence, the methods can be complementary.
