a) Normal citations simply count the total number of citations for each of your publications.

b) h-index: The official definition is "a scholar with an index of h has published h papers each of which has been cited in other papers at least h times. Example: I have an h-index of 9 because I have 9 papers that have been cited at least 9 times. It's irrelevant that some of these have between 20 and 34 citations. The basic principle is that a researcher is rewarded for having a range of papers with good levels of citations rather than one or two outliers with very high citations.

c) i10-Index = the number of publications with at least 10 citations. This very simple measure is only used by Google Scholar. Personally I would not expect ResearchGate to show this measure, as it is not particularly helpful.

h index corresponds to a scientist's h of his/her N papers that have been cited at least h times each, while the rest of the N papers have less than h citations each.

An author has 5 papers with the following citations:

p1      4

p2      4

p3      3

p4     1

p5     0

h-index is 3

note: H index will increase to 4 if no of citations for p4 increases to 4 

An author has 3 papers with the following citations:

p1      20

p2      18

p3      2

h-index is 2

I just mentioned you in a case when an author has 5 publications (p1 to p5) but his first publication got first citation in h-index. what do we understand in that case citations count. What is the formula of calculations. if you have please share
