Green learning focuses on environmental topics, while sustainable education takes a broader approach, integrating environmental, social, and economic aspects for a sustainable future.
Md. Tareq Aziz is perfectly summarizing the topics. Actually both issues are related to education. However sustainable education refers explicitly to Sustainability as defined by the United Nations (see 1st UN Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio-da-Janeiro 1992).
In a perfect world, a basic scheme is commonly used (you will certainly find it) to present such so-called SD in which :
- three circles, same radius are figuring SD 3 main topics : environment concerns, social items and policy issues
- their centres are the summits of a triangle of which sides have the same length ("equilateral"), such length being shorter than the radius here above
- each of them share another common point : education has to be ranked at very high priority as a major them, while not ignoring however key relationships beetwen the two other circles
SD is nothing but the circle's common area
And remember, the present world is not thas perfect as requested
Moreover, may I remind you that green learning is THE perfect way to enter the SD (unperfect) world !
