I have low and medium mol wt Chitosan with HA in different ratios. the degree of deacetylation is same . Medium ones show more degradation or % weight remaining is less after 42 days of immersion in lysozymes as compared to low mol wt? I have been trying to dig out possibilities to explain this but, cant find any literature . please help??
Yes, in some cases high mol. wt. polymeric materials are more susceptible for degradation as compared to their low counterparts.
I have observed pepsin and papain digestion of five different chitosans of varying MW, but similar DD. All of them show a plateau, but the high MW chitosans show a greater decrease in viscosity to the lower. However it is true that I only have viscosity data, not size exclusion chromatography.
Hi All, I have done weight , uv vis, Ftir, ph and medium mol weight just losses weight quicker, I cannot find any scientific reasoning to support this , except impurities in the Chtiosan itself or its distribution of n acetyl d glucosamine units is very random
You can use LC/MS to determine exactly degree of polymerisation (dp)
