I have been a repeat participant at the IARIA Cloud Computing conference, and it is certainly my experience that the standards have always been very high, attracting high calibre and very interesting people. When my first paper was reviewed by 7 reviewers, all of whom made very sensible suggestions in their reviews, it was certainly clear to me that the goal was to achieve a very high standard for papers. I also review for the conference, as I also do for other conferences and journals, and my attitude is to always ensure high standards are achieved from authors, whether they are students or eminent professors. For a full 5 day international conference, action packed from 9:00 in the morning until 7:30 in the evening, the price is no more expensive than I have paid for some 2 day conferences. The conference is professionally run, always running smoothly and on time, which is more than can be said for many others. Given that contributions to the conference are published open source, this is an added bonus which always helps spread the word on your research. The conference attracts a great many like minded people, and has resulted in a a good number of collaborations for me. As far as I am concerned, this is certainly one of the "must do" conferences on my calendar.

In my experience as an actual repeat participant, the quality of IARIA conferences has always been high. IARIA does provide a large number of quality reviews, as your colleague has experienced, and also offers editorial help. The content is freely accessible to anyone (see www.thinkmind.org). In the spirit of “you are never better served than by yourself”, I invite those wondering to access, read, and judge by themselves as to the quality of the published work. I suggest to also have a look at the list of technical committee members for these conferences, and that will also provide an idea of the people involved in the review and publication process.  Some of these negative comments seen online may be backed by institutions who charge scientists quite a large fee to allow them access to published content and are naturally against any free-access publishing. Hope this information helps.

From my experience in participating in the recent IARIA conference (i.e., BUSTECH 2017), I can tell you that it was a very good conference. I received 6 different reviews with great ideas and modifications. I have not received this number in any other conference. Also, they revise your modifications and check if you have implemented all changes or not, which is good for your final product (i.e., your paper). I think the quality is quite good. I have participated for two years in Cloud Computing and the papers and presentations have been good. The papers have many diverse reviewers and the publications are openly available. The same participants seem come back year after year. The acceptance rate is decent between 28% and 42%.

I have concerns about the number and quality of the accepted papers for the latest simul conference.

I submitted my first paper in 2013 to an IARIA conference, ICSEA 13

I found the reviewers to be excellent in that following their advice & suggestions the resultant paper was significantly better.

I attended the conference and presented my paper as well and i can absolutely confirm it was well run & very interesting.

I would highly recommend it as a gentle introduction to publishing research.

In my opinion, the feedback/suggestions from others are really good for the conferences, IARIA held. To establish some new research problem or, idea, IARIA conferences are superb. One thing is true these are not so hyped like IEEE conferences and also not have the same level of the published papers on flagship IEEE conferences. As the main moto of these confs is to promote new ideas, it is not possible be same like them. But, the reviewer's suggestion always benefit us to go for flagship conferences later. Also, i could say it is better than many IEEE/Elsevier co-sponsored conferences.

I have been mailing them from last year till date asking about indexing but still its not done .conference was on 2017 ..i dont think any indexing procedure takes 2 years ..This is too much .........

yes , If u think it is not a fake conference anybody come and answer me to prove me wrong ....but dont say 1 year more because everyone knows any indexing does not take more than 6 months max but here it is like 2 years . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year I have attended an IARIA conference. I received 8 reviews for my paper with reasonable improvements. Also, there were a lot of discussions after each talk. So the people there seemed to be quite knowledgeable. I also met Pietre Dini personally, who made a quite good impression unto me. Furthermore, when I tried to contact these guys via email, they usually answered quite quickly. At least from my last and only visit so far, It didnt look like a fake conference.

@Priya: I try to estimate the value of IARIA conferences. You argue against many. I suppose that is no simple conicidence. What are your arguments apart of just warning against and asking for past history of indexing?

To the best of my knowledge, individual conferences are not indexed (possibly with the exception when a conferecne series gets an ISSN); generally it is the PUBLISHER that is indexed (or not)

My intention is to not argue any one here but i am just asking about the indexing of this conference . Inquiring anything about conference is not wrong i suppose .My question is very simple and straight forward why uptill now (more than 2 yrs )conference proceedings are not reflected in the given index i,e web of science .

If you take the indexing in the web of science as the only scientific valide criteria, then the IARIA conferences have few value.

I see the web of science as a very important institution. But science should not be a religion with the web of science as the wholy answer.

I am very skeptical of some conference organizers, but some of them may be a good way to bring forward alternative ideas. Institutionalized research is of high quality but also acts as a brake on innovation.

OK i agreed to your argument , My concern is why IARIA mentioned that they might submit to indexing entities like web of science etc .If they strongly want to provide some alternative for Institutionalized research they should not have mentioned this .

Our research institute decided to observe and control if IARIA will be indexed until the end of year.

In addition, some of the key figures of IARIA are university professors and staff members like Petr Dini and Claus-Peter Rueckemann. I even contacted the latter and he confirmed to me that he really works for IARIA.

IARIA promised us that our paper will be indexed by web of science and other reputed indexing entities. From last two years we are waiting for that, but never happened. They are liars.

But whats the use of writing this no body does anything rather than asking once...all the threads will start again and then stops gradually. ....... I guess their is no authority who can watch and stop these kind of activities .

Luckily i had few other publications to graduate, otherwise i would have been in deep trouble.  We are arguing with them for two year, only to not allow other researchers to fall in the same trap.

yes at the beginning of our CAREER we dont know about these things but gradually we understood the deep fake-ness and money making business.

They are not even retrieving my paper from their database.

This year I submitted a paper again. I received again 8 reviews with reasonable improvement suggestions and there was a second reviewing round conducted by the editor, where he checked among others whether the reviewers remarks were really taken into account. Actually, no other conference I attended spend so much effort on reviewing, not even top conferences like NAACL or ECAI. I dont know about indexing however. Maybe this is really an issue but I didnt do an in-depth analysis. I submitted a paper at CICLING at the beginning of this year and still did not receive any reviews for my accepted paper. One could argue CICLING is fake but this is really hard to tell sometimes what is fake and what not. Usually my criteria are the paper reviews, if they are done properly or not.

Meanwhile I know the scientific director of IARIA Prof. Petr Dini and his wife personally, which makes it for me very hard to believe he is running some fake business.

My answer: Definitely yes. I have been in the program committee for a while and I rejected a number of papers.

My comment: I do not know the situation of all IARIA conferences, but I can inform you that ICSEA 2018 papers were indexed by WoS (around May this year).

Finally, my personal opinion is that the ICSEA conference is reasonably good, i.e., there are (some) better conferences and (a lot of) worse conferences.

In addition to the previous comments, I note that the average quality of invited talks at ICSEA and other conferences of the SoftNet collection is usually quite high, much better than in most other software conferences I attended.

Yes, we are asking about 2017 and 2018 Conference proceedings ,is it still in the process of indexing ? This year is going to end soon, from 2017 to 2019 what could be the plausible reason for not indexing ? what actually happend to these proceedings these are the big questions which an author should definitely ask to the committee. I guess 2017 and 2018 papers were also part of IARIA conference only. It look suspicious when it not happening for these many years and counting.

In-fact we do not know whether are they going to index these papers which were submitted from last two years (2017 -2018) papers.

I also submitted paper in IARIA conference and received high quality reviews. I hope it will help me a lot

IARIA is a bad conference, they don't maintain the quality and is not listed in the SCOPUS index.

I feel a new aspiring researcher should not consider IARIA for publishing their research because it will not provide them a good audience who will be interested in reading their research.

Most conferences are not indexed by Scopus, so that in itself is not a valid argument.
