Platinum is widely used as fuel cell catalysts, but, it is very expensive. For that, many researchers are working on non-platinum materials to replace it. I'm very curious is it achieved and replaced or how good the research progress is? What are the materials that seem to be promising? I know a lot of people work on Carbon based materials, which includes nitrogen doping and transition metals to increase the catalytic properties. My actual question is whether these materials seem to actually make the companies consider them. How close are the companies in replacing platinum catalysts with non-pgm. Thanks for looking up to help.
