I have callus masses some are whitish and compact, while others are yellowish and friable , can i called them embryogenic and nonembryogenic calli.
i means callus which do not give shoots can be called non embryogenic,
while those which give shoots are embryogenic ?

Typically, shoot primordia originate from callus masses which are white-yellowish and FRIABLE. Compact green-brown callus masses are typically at the end stage of development which means that these are non embryogenic calli. Watch out for the chlorophyll development. If the entire callus turns green, discard it. If the callus has green spots, it is an indication that shoot primordia is developing from this.
