I would like to determine the mechanism of diabetes development from one of our monkeys who had developed it as a result of treatment. We have hypothesized it being antibody mediated; does anyone have a good protocol to test for presence anti-insulin antibody? I have been thinking ELISA but am not sure if it will be sensitive enough.
Also, I am unfamiliar with the mechanisms behind diabetes development. Are there any other mechanisms, (i.e. cytotoxic T cell mediated) that I should test for? If so, do you know the assays I would use to do that?
