I am looking for a chemical aromatase inhibitor that isn't also biologically active in other ways (or as minimally as possible). Any suggestions? Ideally, should be able to be ingested without loosing this activity, or be highly absorbent for topical application.
Aromatase inhibitors are divided into two categories according to their mechanism of action and structure. Type I inhibitors associate with the substrate-binding site of the enzyme and always have an androgenic structure (and are often referred to as steroid inhibitors). In contrast, type II inhibitors interact with the cytochrome P450 part of the system, and structurally, most of them are pyrroles and "non-steroid."
