I guess with stereoscopy acquisition which gives access to height of the sample. The principle is to take 2 or 3 images of the same area with various tilt then reconstruct an elevation map with an appropriated software like MEX from Alicona. With this technique the result is strongly dependant of the sizes (resolution of the SEM, accuracy of the stage) and the ratio beetween surface of interest and height of the pyramids.
