I am trying to analyse the impact of 9 symptoms on the quality of life between different ethnicities. I have around 9 studies representing 3 ethnic groups, each study has been done in a different country.
The data for both symptoms and QoL are represented as mean ( SD). I have tried to meta-analyse the data but I have found it useless because I am not comparing two groups in each study. Instead, I am comparing how the impact of each symptom on QoL is different between ethnicities.
I thought of doing meta-regression but I have only 9 studies.
N.B: 1) 5 out of the 9 studies have done the Spearman's correlation between symptom and QoL.
2) I do not have the raw data of any study.
I am very concerned about judging the quality of life about others. I could defend that people spending all of New Years day watching Football reflects a poor quality of life. But would those people agree with my judgment?
I do not think they would agree with this judgment as long as they enjoy their time. In my research, for example, the quality of life of Parkinson's disease patients is measured subjectively using a certain questionnaire and scored accordingly. In general quality of life is almost a subjective rather than objective assessment. @Michael L Goris
