Hameedah Naeem I try to engage my students in finding links between the subject I am teaching and the life they are living. This link is essential. Students experiencing that the subject at hand is relevant, will engage in a better way. I try to make my teaching a combination of lecture, dialogue in smaller groups and dialogue between me and the whole student group. Motivation and educational power often is closely connected to the students needs and interests. Finding this common ground can be a very effective way of facilitating strong learning processes. I also try to keep in mind that learning is first and foremost discovering for oneself. My work is to facilitate this happening as often as possible. A relevant question combined with a reflection oriented dialogue is often much more effective than a long lecture from me. It is unfortunately not so that all words I say will stick to the students brain, so my lectures always have a limited, but still important role. My lectures can be a way of opening doors into unknown territory for the students. From there it is essential that the student engages in dialogue, reflection, exploration and own discoveries.

I consider Black Board teaching is the effective way and method to impart education to students. All the students may not be bright. Some may be good, sharp, intelligent, poor knowledge, poor response skills, shyness, language problem, taking time to understand etc. All these can be overcome by face to face interaction along with teaching, taking time with patience. The slow the teacher tells in class with examples instantaneously by drawing diagrams, mathematical equations, writing important words etc. the students follow and understand very clearly. Others like PPT, audio- visual aids, giving handouts etc are methods to make students study clearly in addition to this.
As a school and district administrator, I had the opportunity to observe many teachers. Today, I am working at a University with Pre-service teachers in the education department. I learned that the teachers who had figured out how to move their instructional strategies from static to dynamic were able to engage their students, improve attendance and student achievement. It does not matter if the students are in elementary or college level, this is true for all ages. I am referring you to books- "Shake Up Learning" by Kasey Bell, "Ditch the Textbook" by Matt Miller and "Teach LIke a Pirate" by Dave Burgess. These are not academic or scholarly books but books by authors who are teachers and figured out ways to engage students and improve achievement. They tell it like it is. Look at Ron Clark's Academy website. He has a model school that people can visit to see teachers in action in Atlanta, Georgia. http://www.ronclarkacademy.com/ - Watch the movie "The Ron Clark Story" and check out his books. Pick one resource, any of these will help you change your teaching from static to dynamic and give you a concrete foundation of how to shift your pedagogy toward student success.
Multi methodology approach to teach students and to make them engage in their learning is preferable option, ask the students what methods, they wanted for learning; after every 10 to 15 minutes during class, give them some activity, physical, fun, humor (2-3 minutes fun break) to make them alert and interesting in their learning.....Use every method possible for 21st century learners, as they distract easily and engaging them is an art, science and essential skill to master!
I have many years of experience as a teacher of Italian language and linguistics and therefore I have tried various methods throughout my teaching career. I came to the conclusion that it is important to involve students in their learning, especially now that knowledge is available to everyone, trying to take into account the specificities of each one, leaving them a certain margin of freedom in personal work and group work and the pleasure of "discovering" certain notions alone.
codified instructional dynamics coupled with sustaining class room attention and soulfully performing like an art are the essential criteria for better teaching.
There isn't such a thing as ''the best teaching way''. Teaching (and learning) always depends on many factors (related to students, teacher, teaching goals, learning outcomes, teaching content etc.) and considering that factors - we are creating our teaching situation. Maybe one more thing is of the greatest importance here - each teaching situation should be unique in some elements, that's the way which helps in developing interest and motivation.
Teacher should introduce the topic to students and allow them to show their area of interest and also guide them accordingly, because teaching learning process should base on learners interest.
That the appropriate method of teaching is suited to the intelligence of the student so must provide one lesson in a single teaching method suited to different intelligences
I prefer to say black board teaching is best for regular teaching. The regular teaching is teaching a subject in curriculum, introducing, telling principles, discussing certain related aspects, writing formulae and telling them how to spell and write in order specifically. However, power point, downloading from net teaching notes are used for enhancement
Choosing the best method to teach students depends on several factors, including the studying stage (Primary, intermediate, or graduate),the type of subject I teach, as well as the type of potential that I need to choose the appropriate teaching method.
Be friendly with your student but not friend . Follow teachings ethics , and take ICT classes . Take command over your subject . In ethical aspect you should always remind that you are attached with a noble profession .
7 Effective Teaching Strategies For The Classroom:
The classroom is a dynamic environment, bringing together students from different backgrounds with various abilities and personalities. Being an effective teacher therefore requires the implementation of creative and innovative teaching strategies in order to meet students’ individual needs.
Whether you’ve been teaching two months or twenty years, it can be difficult to know which teaching strategies will work best with your students. As a teacher there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution, so here is a range of effective teaching strategies you can use to inspire your classroom practice.
i prefer to use blackboard for best teaching. This gives time for the students to understand and write. Asking questions in between the class, making them to tell what they know and making the students to interact are the best way for teachers to teach.
Whatever strategy the teacher can devise that leads the students to discover answers and concepts for themselves as a result of their desire. The idea is to get the student so excited about their discovery that they think and talk about it.
The trending method is to use any innovative strategy in teaching, since most of the scholars in education after series of research recommended the innovative strategies. By innovative strategies l mean those strategies that make learners discover learning by themselves.
In the martial arts when the master wants his disciples to become more assured of what they have learned he asks them to teach what they know to others who are at the basic level. So, in the classroom, if you want to know how much your students have learned let them take on the role as a teacher, trainer, coach, mentor and have them be self-evaluted with you to measure their learning progress.
