A manuscript submitted by me to a reputed journal is in the Review stage for more than 6 months. The journal metrices indicate that the average time for taking a final decision is about 9 weeks. I would like to have some inputs as to what would be the best option from the Author's perspective regarding the submitted manuscript?
Dear Sir,
I suggest you to write personnel email to editor regarding the status of manuscript. Based on his response you can decide for further approach. I have similar experience of 10 month of review pending in the journal. So, I wrote email to chief editor, and he response that, getting reviewer in the specific field is really tough, So it took time. However, they accepted my manuscript for publication.
Withdrawing manuscript from the journal in middle of review is not an good idea because it takes another time for submission and then wait for their atleast 3 months of their review process.
Sometimes getting reviewer is the biggest issues for the journal editor.
