There is no single book that is "best", do keep in mind. And if you're more on the beginner's side, I suggest you start with J. H. Gross's MS textbook.
So you think that Gross' textbook is worth considering? I know a new edition is imminent for this year and if it has good value, I would certainly considering it highly because it would be the most up-to-date resource available.
