Some open access journals where you have to pay to get your work published also offer vouchers to their reviewers for their own publications in this journal if the review is provided within one week. That definitely speeds up review processes.

First, perform a paper with a relevant issue and significative academic contribution. Second, references could have high citation number (JCR, Q1/Q2).

Choose journals correctly, review their instruction for publications previously.

- One should know its work and gravity (most importantly)

- Editorial board members be identfied rightly havig sifficient breadth and depth of knolwdge to conduct review/s

- Fair review given appropriate understanding of aims and scope (bilaterally)

- If possible , always write a summary letter (should be different from article)

- Avoid very quick review avenues, prefer weeks (at times months) over days

- Journal or publishing avenue should have well established editorial board and review committe and spectrum should be international and diverse

- Journal owned or promoted by authentic department or institution be preferred over society ones, and that of a society over commercial magazine type ones.

- At times very authentic journals do not charge, may prefer those ( first point)

I think one can remind politely to the editor, but some time if you feel it is taking longer than usual, you always have option to change the journal as well.

You dont have the option to speed your publishing process. But some items may help:

1- choose the journal that suit your paper ( speciality)

2- read well about the average time of review process in the journals you want to publish in

3- write your manuscripy clearly and well to decrease time of peer review

The editors can assist the author in providing a reviewer for the manuscript. A situation whereby an author will submit a manuscript,after three months,he will be told that the reviewers did not respond he should send another sets of reviewers and this goes on for three good times,should be avoided.

You can go for publishing in Journals with low Impact Factor.

The most important is the paper has to be complete in all aspects.

the most important aspects are abstract and conclusion section.

A solid research must be portrayed from the abstract and concusion section with proper sequence of work content.

A reviewer will spare his valuable time, only if, he is fascinated at the very first moment to read the paper andwill try to complete the review as soon as possible.

Yes, dear Bhaskar, I agree with you to a great extent that Reviews are often delayed as Reviewers are NOT paid. If Reviewers are paid for the timely (set duration of first review with two weeks) providing review feedbacks, then this problem can be solved to a great extent else as usual such problems will persist in future as well.

I am saying this, as I am experiencing this for the past 26 years being an Author as well as Reviewer.

Open Access Journals: usually their review time is short. On the other hand you have to pay quick cumber some amount.

The best solution to hasten your publishing process are: (1). Go for a journal with a low impact factor and publishing process becomes easier, (2). Write your paper with abstract neatly reflecting the content with a stress in newness, (3). While sending to the journal, see the time of publication of article from start till the end in on line issues and get conclusion and (4). In some journals, if asked, give the reviewers list who are keen and sincere to review your article and submit in time.

Look at some suitable journals in your area. Look at the date received and date accepted for some of the articles for each type of journals. This would give you a rough idea of the tun around time based upon which you can choose your journal to publish in. Then, look carefully at the requirements and write your manuscript as closely as possible to the ones published anticipating different questions from reviewers and addressing them.
