With the advent of nanomaterials, biomaterial and modelling tool,
MST - unable to address an issue like biocompatibility, modelling etc.

The intellectual origins of materials science stem from the Enlightenment, when researchers began to use analytical thinking from chemistry, physics, and engineering to understand ancient, phenomenological observations in metallurgy and mineralogy. Of course, tetrahedron is very primitive model for material science.
We must begin not with physics, but from chemistry. It is known from solid state chemistry (this is branch of chemistry) that properties are determined not only by composition and structure, but also by defectness. Moreover, it is more correct to consider two levels of structure: the microstructure (crystal lattice) and the macrostructure (domain, grain, etc.). Defects, of course, may (and must) exist on both structure levels. Thus, we can speak about the classical chain: composition->method of synthesys ("processing" ?)-> microstructure+defects-> macrostructure+defects->property. If the last point is studied by physicists, then the beginning is exactly a chemical problem. Performance... (?) is very strange characteristic, especialy placed together with structure and composition.

Materials science is not just "goes beyong solid states physics", it is a separate branch of science that uses, among other things, methods of solid state physics. Your statement seems to me a reflection of the general conceit of physicists that this science is "the queen of all sciences." I have seen attempts by physicists to talk about chemistry, biology, even history and philology. But physics studies the state of matter. We should not forget that there is such a science as chemistry, which studies processes including receipt of materials...
