I have just attached an EPD that provides an example of the carbon steel process. Although it is not very detailed, it should give you a general idea of the type of process to select in SimaPro (using the Ecoinvent database).

The document states: “Carbon steel grades have a very low alloy content and represent an important saving as they are widely used materials in various industries and applications due to their strength, durability, affordability, and versatility.”

Based on this, in SimaPro you could consider selecting either “steel production, converted, low alloyed” or “steel production, electric, low-alloyed.”
