I believe you can use a conventional TIG Welding or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.

Offering high quality, versatility and longevity, TIG is the most commonly used stainless steel welding process. This welding process creates a low heat input, which makes it perfect for thin material. The argon gas is often mixed with other gases, depending on the needs of the specific project, including helium, hydrogen and nitrogen. To prevent oxidation and increase resistance to corrosion, a single-sided welding process can be used creating inert backing gas protection between the interior and exterior welds.

Gas Tugsten Arc Welding (GTAW)/ Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) is the recommended modern welding process for Stainless Steel. The standard shielding gas is Argon. for stainless steel, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding or TIG welding is preffered one method.

Welding the tiny wires of braided tube can be tough. Try it with GTAW and as low a current that will make whatever you are welding it to melts just a bit. I suspect it will take many trials to get it right. If there were many joints, you might consider brazing. Soldering is also an option if strength requirements are not too high.

It is hard to give you a good answer without more details of the weld joint. In general, mechanical methods are used to join braided stainless steel to other pieces. But brazing could be a efficient solution.

The right method for welding depends on the materials, geometry and thickness of the pieces. If it come to thin components, such as braided stainless steels and plates of stainless steels, the apropriate methodes are: TIG welding, micro-plasma welding and resistance spot welding.

Brazing also can be used for joining, but for this application I belive it is not appropiate!

While TIG welding is widely recommended, there is a modified Spot Welding

Depending on what are you looking for is it only the weld quality or there are some mechanical properties you are seeking!

In my opinion you can weld stainless steel by both GTAW(TIG) or GMAW depending on what you are looking for, material thickness, with filler or without, amount of heat input, and joint type.

Also, I want to add that you can use one of the mentioned processes and applying a stationary spot welding technique (it is an option new machines offering).
