What is the best method to go for Rainfall threshold precipitation for Landslide initiation? Also please suggest me the best organization which provide daily rainfall data for North East India. I have used IMD records, but lots of data are missing for NE India.
Landslide initiation is more complex than just rainfall. Rainfall is a major factor, but slope, soil properties, slip plane as bedrock, surface and underground water sources, disturbance as undercutting toe of slope, earthquakes, lithology fractures, dip and tilt of stratigraphy, vegetation cover, rooting depth and density are among the factors contributory. I have seen some visual indicators of instability, which I tried to describe in the uploaded Researchgate Watershed Restoration after Calamity. In some instances, hydrologic modifications as small as skid roads or cattle trails could initiate by funneling runoff into sensitive areas. Clearcutting sensitive areas may also contribute and are especially sensitive when the roots decay, before new vegetation reestablishes.
It is not easy to define a specific threshold for landslides because of that the formation of landform and the presence of vegetation also play a crucial rule.
I cannot answer directly (a complex question) but I still recommend trying physically based models to define rainfall thresholds. I would gladly share with you some of the methods we have used and published on important scientific journals.

Previously, when empirical methods were used more frequently, deterministic approaches were been followed. But in recent past, many good publications indicate about the current trend of probabilistic approach.
In my opinion, one should consider both "triggering" as well as "non-triggering" rainfall events while doing Rainfall Thresholds analysis.

You could consider trying APHRODITE rainfall reanalysis (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.atmosres.2020.104964), alternatively HAR-v2 (TU Berlin, http://dx.doi.org/10.5194/nhess-21-2125-2021) might cover your region of interest. GPM (or older TRMM) might not suit well to study landslides (http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10346-021-01689-3).
