but "ATP assay kit" would be the most simple and intuitive method for you.
For example, we used ATP Assay Kit(abcam, ab83355), which is able to analyze ATP quantity in Tissue Extracts or Serum, and of course other biological fluids, in colorimetric/Fluorometric way.
However, more detailed information is required, as it is not sure whether your study is for tissue itself or specific cells in the tissue, or broader.
We didn't include any data from ATP Assay kit(abcam) in our papers, however, we had used it to evaluate cellular metabolism level in the preliminary study. As its protocol is similar to BCA, there is no big difficulty.
As Alex said, OCR measurement using "Seahorse XFp" or as such is another good method if you can isolate & seed enough myocardiocytes to satisfy 80~90% confluency of 'Seahorse cell culture kit'.
Additionally, I believe several types of mass spectrometry would help you to evaluate such as PCr and Creatine, but I'm not personally familiar with these methods yet..
