Extraction procedures play a crucial role to the quantity and/or concentration of phytochemical(s) content, etc and to the respective assays performed as well. A wide range of technologies with different methods of extraction is available nowadays.
But still it is very hard to say which one is the best. It is not so general rather it varies with the specific MAPs and also to the specific bioactive compound to be extracted.
Research is however on to make things easier, simpler and more widely acceptable.
It really depends to the target chemical/s you want to extract. Are they water soluble? Or are they soluble in ethanol? Are you looking for low tech or high tech? Dense phase CO2 will remove way more chemicals than water or ethanol but costs more.
