Many of the starting monosubstituted alkynes and organic azides can easily be synthesized with a wide range of functional groups, and their cycloaddition reaction selectively gives 1,2,3-triazoles. Cu(I) can be used as a catalyst at room temperature, uncatalysed reaction requires high temperature.
