There is no answer better than that of Dr. Towe. It is the classical way of getting information about the grain size fraction and their weight.

If you know anybody who has access to a CAMSIZER you will get a more secure dataset within the "sand interval" and you can also calculate morphometric as well other hydraulic parameters.
