I don't believe there is a single best method due to the wide range of compounds found in plants. A solvent system that works for non-polar terpenes can't work for polar alkaloids, nor for acidic compounds.
If you have a particular class of compounds in mind for analysis, it is best to optimize a TLC system for those compounds.
Hi, I agree with Jack and Sulaiman, it depends on the samples. Please search in the Camag CBS data base for TLC, you can insert the name of the sample(s), maybe you can find it in the data base, Best regards
The comments given are all valid, look for the Gunawans suggestion for the reference, consult this & may be even then you have to slightly modify the solvent system for that particular class / group of phyto-chemicals .
