What is the benefit of these Radial Partitions for this illumination lens?

As you can see in the image attached to the question, there are some Radial Partitions one of the surfaces (Surface 2) of the lens. This is an illumination lens made by PMMA and its FWHM is 120 degrees.

I'm looking for the reason for creating these Radial Partitions.

(Simulations show almost the same light intensity distribution curve (LIDC) for the lens with/without the radial partitions.)
