Membrane life is a function of feed water source, pretreatment, frequency of cleaning, system design, and operating conditions. For economic analysis, a 5 year life is normally used.

It depends upon the feed quality, operational parameters such as CIPs, re-circulation ratio, inlet feed pressure, pressure difference between inlet and outlet, recovery ratio, and but obvious the outlet quality will dominate and decides the life of membrane. As per my experience in case of fresh water (borewell and municipal water) feed quality, the life of cellulose acetate membranes is 2-3 years. Again the exact life will depends upon what output quality you want at which recovery rate. But generally it is 2-3 years.

Hi, average life of cellulose acetate membranes depends on the different applications. 

It depends on feed nature aqueous/ organic, thickness, filler content (if any), operating conditions (Temp., pressure, acidity/bascity,), module design etc.
