We are doing heat and mass transfer analysis when blood flows through a porous artery. We apply ANSYS CFX for the simulation analysis. We want to fix interfacial area density between two phases (Fluid phase and solid phase).

Interfacial area density is the amount of surface area per unit volume. Maybe you can estimate it from porosity value (fluid frontal surface area/total frontal surface area) or from microscope images.

How to calculate interfacial area density (IAD)?
For packed bed it is simple. IAD = volume available to fluid/total volume or 6*(1-phi)/Particle diameter. (phi here porosity)
suppose a=dp/0.59 (dp=pore diameter),a= cube/cell side and a=2.23l where l is side of pentagram.
IAD I calculated is 1957 for 30 faces. Is it ok? Overall I calculated it as one pentagram area*30 (faces)/cube volume
