It would be very helpful if some of you who are PI in Universities and Research institute and receive a bunch of postdoc application every month, share your opinion and suggestion with the prospective Post candidates on how to write an attractive postdoc application letter. Is it possible to share one template that you consider a good application?
An application letter should state the research projects which you carried in the past highlighting the research outputs. There is no such ideal application letter that will instantly secure a post doc position.
Dear Isaac Dinaharan , Thanks for your personal opinion. However, you completely misunderstood it. I have never mentioned in my question about securing a postdoc position "instantly'. According to you, if I send my postdoc application containing my research highlights only, my chances of getting positive replies will be very very less. According to your opinion, I can send the same application to another 200 PI without major modification. The way you explained it seems post applicant apply only for money. It might be true for you, but it does not suit me. Please don't comment if you do not understand correctly. Good bye.
Abir Chakraborty I do not agree to your response. Where did I mention money in my answer? I have five years of post doctoral experience in two universities and have written thousands of such applications to professors and universities across the globe. I have zero savings from all those five years of post doc fellowship. Post doc research position is not meant for earning. It takes much effort to secure a position. There is no magical formula to secure or impress a PI at will.
