we are estimating the above ground carbon stock for southern africa which shows that semiarid rangelands have greater potential to sequester and store carbon than cropped areas in humid zones. we are finalising it for publication
I just reviewed an article talking about mixed species pastures, and it quoted that on arid and semi-arid lands in portugal, about 3.5 million tons of COs were sequestered in five years using 4% of their total land. I donʻt know how big portugal is so I canʻt comment on how large or small of a number this really is. Cited for that figure was the following PhD thesis:
