I am working with semiconductor devices modeling. At an early stage one need to validate the developed model with data extracted from papers. sometime the reported I-V characteristics is normalized with the channel width. For example what will be the actual value for current in the shown figure?
If the drain current is expressed as current per channel width then you should multiply the current (as shown in this graph) with the channel width to obtain the actual current.
However, if the drain current is normalized such that the effect from all the dimension (length, width and thickness) terms is eliminated, then you should multiply the normalized drain current with channel width and thickness (area of cross-section) and divide it by channel length to obtain the actual current.

I think it is better to use the simulation [(FDTD) Lumerical ( section Device)] and there are many examples on the internet

This is a 2D simulation result. It does not take the 3rd dimension (device width) into account and assumes no variations in this direction. This is not a normalized current actually. To get an estimation of current in A, multiply values by your device width.
According to the protocol of data availability statements, you may ask the corresponding author about your query. However, you may use 2D simulation tool to extract the same graph of attached image and then see how it goes!!
